The Training section of the Employee Portal provides access to security awareness training courses assigned to you by your organization. Completing these courses is a compliance requirement across all major frameworks and demonstrates your understanding of security practices.

Viewing Assigned Training

Open the Training tab in the Employee Portal to see all courses assigned to you:
FieldDescription
Course nameTitle of the training course
StatusNot started, in progress, or completed
Due dateDeadline for completing the course (if set)
Completion dateWhen you finished the course (if completed)
ScoreYour score or grade (if the course includes an assessment)
Courses are typically ordered by due date, with the most urgent at the top.

Course Types

Your organization may assign different types of training:
General security awareness training covering topics like:
  • Phishing recognition and reporting
  • Password security and MFA
  • Social engineering tactics
  • Data handling and classification
  • Physical security basics
  • Incident reporting procedures
This is the most common training type and is required by every compliance framework.

Completing a Training Course

1

Select the course

Click on the course name to open it. The course content loads within the Employee Portal.
2

Work through the material

Read or watch the training content at your own pace. Some courses allow you to pause and resume later.
3

Complete the assessment (if required)

Many courses include a quiz or assessment at the end. You must achieve the minimum passing score to receive credit.
4

Receive your completion record

After finishing the course (and passing the assessment, if applicable), your completion is recorded automatically. A certificate may be generated.
If a course includes an assessment and you do not achieve the passing score, you can typically retake it. Check the course details for retake policies.

Training Deadlines

When training courses have due dates:
  • Before the deadline: The course appears in your pending tasks with the due date shown.
  • Approaching deadline: You may receive email reminders as the deadline approaches.
  • Past deadline: Overdue training is flagged in your portal dashboard and escalated to your manager or the compliance team.
Overdue training creates a compliance gap for your organization. If you are unable to complete training by the deadline, contact your manager or the compliance team to discuss an extension.

Completion Tracking

Your training completion record includes:

  • Your name
  • The course title
  • Completion date
  • Score achieved
  • Certificate ID for verification
Certificates are stored in LowerPlane and can be downloaded from the Training section of your Employee Portal.

Annual Retraining

Security awareness training typically requires annual completion. When your previous completion expires:
  • The course reappears in your pending tasks
  • A new due date is assigned
  • You must complete the course again, even if the content has not changed significantly
This annual cadence is required by most compliance frameworks to ensure ongoing security awareness.

Training and Compliance

Your training completion directly supports compliance requirements:
FrameworkTraining Requirements
ISO 27001A.7.2.2 — All employees must receive appropriate security awareness training
SOC 2CC1.4 — Organization demonstrates commitment to attract, develop, and retain competent individuals
