Overview

The Jira integration monitors your project management platform: projects, users, permission schemes, security issues, and audit logs. LowerPlane collects compliance evidence automatically and only ever reads data from Jira — it never creates or modifies projects, issues, or configuration.

Prerequisites

You need Jira Organization Admin permissions to authorize the OAuth connection.

How to Connect

Find your Jira domain

Identify your Jira domain — this is the part before .atlassian.net in your URL (e.g., for acme.atlassian.net, enter acme).

Start the connection

Go to Settings > Integrations in LowerPlane, find Jira, and enter your Jira domain.

Authorize access

Click Connect to be redirected to Atlassian. On the consent screen, select your site (e.g. yourcompany.atlassian.net) and approve the following access:View (read:jira-work, read:jira-user)
  • Read Jira project and issue data, search for issues, and read objects associated with issues (attachments, worklogs).
  • View user information — usernames, email addresses, and avatars.
Manage (manage:jira-project, manage:jira-configuration)
  • Required by Atlassian to read permission schemes and audit logs. LowerPlane uses this scope for reading only and never creates or edits projects, fields, or configuration.
LowerPlane also requests offline_access so it can refresh the connection without re-authorizing.
