Overview

The Grafana integration monitors your observability platform: dashboards, alerts, data sources, users, and teams. LowerPlane uses read-only access via a Service Account Token to collect compliance evidence automatically.

Prerequisites

You need Grafana Server Admin or Organization Admin permissions to create a service account and generate a token.

How to Get Your Service Account Token

Log in to Grafana

Log in to your Grafana instance.

Create a service account

Go to Administration > Service Accounts > Add service account. Name it “LowerPlane” and assign the Viewer role.

Grant alerting permissions

Ensure the service account has Alerting :: Full read-only access permission.

Generate a token

Click on the service account, then Add service account token. Copy the generated token.

Connecting in LowerPlane

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations in LowerPlane
  2. Find Grafana under Monitoring
  3. Enter your Grafana URL (e.g., https://grafana.yourcompany.com)
  4. Enter your Service Account Token
  5. Click Connect
For Grafana Cloud, your URL follows the format https://<your-stack>.grafana.net.
